Mending Minds Village Condemns Violence, Calls for Collaboration of Leaders

Springville, Utah Sep 12, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - In response to the tragic and violent attacks Wednesday that claimed the life of Charlie Kirk in Orem, Utah, as well as the high school shooting at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colorado, Mending Minds Village stands in solidarity with the family's, co-workers, supporters, and communities of the victims of these horrific acts.
Statement from Executive Director Kaden Mattinson:
"Mending Minds Village extends our deepest condolences to the family of Charlie Kirk, as well as the victims of the horrific high school shooting at Evergreen High School. Not only was Kirk a powerful advocate for the youth of today, he was also a husband, father, business owner, and American man. These acts affect the entire nation, and we stand with all those who were impacted both directly and indirectly both of these incidents. We are calling upon our leaders, law enforcement, and nonprofit advocates to join together with Mending Minds Village to create a movement of peace, understanding, and solidarity. Our nation is struggling with division and negativity, and it is up to us as leaders to create a future our children will be safe to exist in."
A Proposal for Change
Mending Minds Village is proposing a conversation between our leadership, law enforcement and first responders, nonprofit leaders, education leaders, and medical professionals to create a meaningful dialogue and create real solutions for peace and solitude in the wake of recent violence. We are prepared to host a roundtable and invite those voices from across the political and social spectrum to address:
- The root causes of political violence
- Mental health and youth engagement strategies
- Community-based prevention and education
- Restorative justice and healing initiatives
Call to Action
We urge leaders across Utah and the nation to reach out and join us in this effort. This is not a political issueit is a human one. Together, we can begin the work of mending minds, restoring peace, and building a future where peace and conversation precedes and overrides violence. Together, we can create a future that our children will not have to heal from. The time is now for leaders to step up and begin the healing that our state and nation desperately needs.
