Albany, New York Jan 22, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Mark Linker, MD, the M. Thomas Stillman Endowed Chair at Hennepin Healthcare/HCMC, will be presented with the 2026 Camille Mermod Award for Exceptional Service to AMWA during the 111th AMWA Annual Meeting in San Francisco in March.

Initiated in 1969 by Josephine E. Renshaw, MD, this award is given to a non-physician who has rendered exceptional service to the association. It need not be awarded every year, but only when it is justly deserved. On rare occasions, the award is presented to a physician whose exceptional service to the Association is unrelated to their capacity as a physician; this is one of those rare years.

Dr. Mark Linzer is the embodiment of a true he-for-shea trusted ally whose scholarship, mentorship, and partnership with AMWA have advanced meaningful, evidence-based solutions to improve the well-being and sustainability of women in medicine. His lifelong commitment to safer, more humane healthcare systems reflects the very spirit of the Camille Mermod Award, says Susan Hingle, MD, AMWA Past President and the 2026 Awards Chair.

Dr. Linzer is a nationally respected internist, researcher, and mentor whose career has been defined by his deep commitment to equity, well-being, and the advancement of women in medicine. As Chair and Director of the Center for Patient and Provider Experience at Hennepin Healthcare, he has created spaces where women physicians and trainees are deeply supported, heard, and valued.

Dr. Linzer has been a tireless advocate for addressing gender-based inequities in the clinical workplace. His landmark research on burnout and work-life quality has repeatedly centered the voices of women, helping to catalyze institutional changes nationwide. More than a mentor, he is a role model who elevates womens perspectives, amplifying their contributions and helping them rise.  With humility, integrity, and unwavering allyship, Dr. Linzer mentors across generations, inspiring women in medicine to lead authentically and sustainably.

The AMWA Annual Meeting, held March 2729, celebrates the theme: Thriving, Leading, Transforming: Rooted in Purpose, Rising in Power, Committed to Service. Sessions are designed to spark learning, reflection, and bold action, while celebrating the strength, resilience, and vision of those transforming medicine from the inside out.

The Physician Awards will be presented in person during the AMWA Awards Gala, on Saturday, March 28 from 6 to 9 pm PT. To attend the Awards Ceremony or register for the full meeting, visit: amwa-doc.org/amwa111
